She tolerated the overhanging branches, and if wildflowers appeared in her garden she accepted nature’s impulse to expand. But the rose petals peaking through the slats of the wooden fence were an invasion she couldn’t accept.
Didn’t her neighbor know? She saw how he tended his yard, the care he took. Oversight wasn’t possible; he was allowing this invasion.
She must respond! It was her right, indeed her responsibility, to end this violation. Clipping the stem would only provide temporary relief; the problem had to be ended at its root.
She would confront him. After she found out his name.

There is a term for what she is perceiving: hostile attribution. She needs to take a chill pill!
