Grove Park
Flash fiction
The subdivision had a small playground maintained by the city. Grove Park was set far back from the street, making it easy to pass by without notice when driving but safe for children along the walking paths leading to it.
Grove Park had a set of three swings, a sand pit, and a slide with one ladder and two chutes. A metal orb at the top of the slide was carved with two eyes and a gently smiling mouth. With its wide supporting body and two descending arms, “Mr. Slide” was a popular destination for the subdivision’s children.
